Role Overview

Staff Software Engineer, Backend

Lead the technical vision and architecture for SoundXYZ’s backend systems powering a music economy platform (songs/artists pages, web3 economic tools, community/governance/membership, and more).

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the backend engineering technical vision and architecture.
• Architect and develop core backend systems supporting platform features.
• Design and maintain robust API layers for internal and external developers.
• Improve backend performance, reliability, and scalability to support growth.
• Enhance real-time blockchain data pipelines for accurate and timely processing.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to improve CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and service health visibility.
• Establish backend best practices for code quality and maintainability.
• Mentor and train engineers to foster continuous learning.
• Participate in product planning and decisions to ensure technical feasibility and strategic alignment.

Requirements

• 6+ years of production-grade software development.
• Strong backend development and system architecture fundamentals.
• Experience with distributed systems and scalable infrastructure.
• Familiarity with TypeScript; GraphQL knowledge.
• Strong problem-solving/analytical skills and communication/leadership.
• Ability to work North American hours, specifically between GMT-8 and GMT-5.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring/guiding engineering teams.
