Backend Software Engineer (Machine Learning Training & Serving)

Join Affirm as a Backend Software Engineer focused on Machine Learning Training & Serving. You will build and operate the infrastructure that enables models to be trained and served across the company.

Responsibilities

Build and operate the critical ML infrastructure for training and deployment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to break down larger projects into deliverable work packages and ship in phases.
Support operations and availability of team artifacts.
Monitor system metrics, escalate issues when needed, and help with “keep the lights on” responsibilities.
Contribute through engineering practices such as code reviews, debugging, and feedback to other engineers.

Requirements

1.5+ years of software engineering experience.
Ability to turn business scenarios into solutions that integrate multiple software components.
Strong engineering fundamentals: write clear, well-tested, extensible code.
Proficiency in backend development and experience in Python or Kotlin.
Familiarity with distributed systems concepts.
Experience/comfort with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
