About the role
Role Overview
Feathr is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to build and ship backend services for its nonprofit marketing SaaS platform. You’ll collaborate with your team to deliver features, fix bugs, improve performance, and strengthen production systems that support advertising, marketing, and analytics needs.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend features and services shipped to real users
- Solve technical problems and document solutions for the team
- Collaborate with frontend engineers and product managers to design and build features
- Write clean, testable, performant code and perform/participate in code reviews
- Debug and resolve backend issues (performance, data consistency, production incidents)
- Deploy to production and monitor for correctness and performance
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and maintain data integrity, availability, and confidentiality
- Iterate on feedback and continuously improve technical solutions
Requirements
- 2+ years of backend software engineering experience
- Proven experience contributing to software that ships to real users
- Working knowledge of Python and Flask, plus at least one of:
- Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or Redis
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) used as part of daily workflow
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms
- Ability to write and maintain unit and integration tests
- Working knowledge of MongoDB queries and data modeling
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch (or similar search/analytics engines)
- Familiarity with AWS services (S3, SQS, or EC2)
- Awareness of security and compliance in enterprise software
- Ability to work in synchronous and asynchronous environments (with guidance)

- Docker, event stream processing, Kubernetes, or distributed systems experience
