Backend Software Engineer - AI Finance Agent

Role Overview

Backend Software Engineer to build the core systems behind BJAK’s AI Finance Agent. You’ll design and operate reliable backend services, APIs, and workflows that can scale across markets, partners, and millions of users in regulated financial products.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for the AI Finance Agent.
• Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel, and financial services.
• Design reliable systems for:
  • User accounts
  • Transactions
  • Partner integrations
  • Reconciliation
  • Notifications
  • Operations
• Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly.
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers, and other partners.
• Improve reliability, observability, security, and performance.
• Build systems that are practical, auditable, and ready for regulated financial products.

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design, and production debugging.
• Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems.
• Solid understanding of security, reliability, data quality, and operational edge cases.
• Ability to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality, and risk.
• Comfortable collaborating with product, mobile, operations, and business teams.
• Strong English communication.

Nice to Have

• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking, or other regulated products.

Location / Work Setup

• Remote, but candidates must be based in the United States.
