Backend Software Engineer

Role Overview

Backend Software Engineer joining Analog Devices’ rapid R&D team to build software for biomedical, diagnostic, and scientific instrumentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend software for instrumentation systems.
• Build APIs, cloud services, and data pipelines supporting detection and analysis workflows.
• Implement real-time control, data acquisition, analytics, and monitoring capabilities.
• Translate complex customer and internal requirements into effective software designs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (hardware/process engineers, biomedical specialists, laboratory personnel) for hardware-software integration.
• Continuously improve software development processes and apply best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of recent experience developing production-level Python systems.
• Expert knowledge of Python and libraries including FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLModel, and PyTorch.
• Extensive database experience with MySQL, ClickHouse, and/or MongoDB (including migrations and debugging ORM/ODM).
• Experience deploying software on Linux-based embedded devices and also Windows and macOS.

Nice to Have

• Experience with distributed ML systems using Ray.
• Cloud application development with AWS and Kubernetes.
• GitHub CI/CD, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) including AWS CDK and Terraform.
• Medical-grade software development and/or working in regulatory environments.
• Familiarity with Go, Rust, C, or C++, especially in embedded Linux contexts.
