Backend Software Developer

Role Overview

Backend Software Developer to build, support, and maintain open-source backend systems and web services. You will help migrate Linux-based on-premises infrastructure to AWS and collaborate with engineers, developers, operators, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain open-source backend software using AWS services with an emphasis on scalability, security, and performance.
• Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design system architecture, and implement solutions for cloud migration.
• Support operations: troubleshoot deployment issues, optimize system performance, and help ensure high availability.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to maintain code quality and maintainability.
• Create test plans and automation scripts to support CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement AWS security best practices to safeguard data and meet compliance needs.
• Stay current with emerging cloud, blockchain, and backend technologies and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years professional software development experience, with at least 3 years focused on backend development.
• Proficiency in Node.js and experience building RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Hands-on CI experience with Bamboo and Jenkins.
• Strong Git version control skills.
• Experience supporting production deployments, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux and command-line tools.
• Prior Python development experience.
• Containerization and deployment practices using Docker and CloudFormation.
• Experience designing and maintaining software leveraging core AWS services (compute, storage, network, database).
• Open-source contribution experience.
• Knowledge of AWS security best practices, including experience with AWS Step Functions.
