Backend Engineer (US)

Role Overview

Backend Engineer (US) working on an AI-native finance platform powered by autonomous agents. You’ll build the core backend infrastructure that enables intelligent workflows and real-time financial analytics.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and develop scalable backend systems using Python and cloud-native tooling
• Build APIs, orchestration layers, and data pipelines for autonomous agents and real-time analytics
• Implement complex financial logic as maintainable, performant code
• Collaborate with ML, data, and product teams to integrate LLMs, financial logic, and user workflows
• Own performance, reliability, and maintainability of mission-critical systems
• Apply best practices across testing, DevOps, IaC, and system observability
• Note: Remote role with monthly travel to the Bay Area or Seattle for in-person meetings

Requirements

• 3–7 years of backend engineering experience
• Built and scaled production-grade backend systems for data-intensive and/or real-time applications
• Strong Python proficiency and experience with distributed backend systems
• Ability to design API contracts and clean interfaces (e.g., REST, GraphQL, RPC)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka)
• Deep understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and caching (e.g., Redis)
• Strong grasp of performance tuning, automated testing, CI/CD, security, and observability
• Comfortable with complex domain modeling in high-stakes fintech environments

Nice to Have (Bonus Points)

• Experience with AI frameworks/LLMs and multi-agent orchestration platforms (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, Haystack)
• Exposure to financial data modeling, investment workflows, or alternative data pipelines
