Backend Engineer (Product Team)

Silicon Data is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to help scale its GPU benchmarking platform.

Role Overview

You will design, build, and deploy scalable backend services, with ownership of performance and reliability in production. The role sits on the product team and works closely with benchmark engineers to improve the platform’s backend systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy scalable backend services and own their performance and reliability in production
• Ensure high engineering quality via unit testing, code reviews, and best practices
• Ship high-quality code faster using AI tools and modern technologies
• Collaborate with benchmark engineers to deliver reliable, scalable, and intuitive backend systems for GPU benchmarking
• Participate in technical discussions and contribute to best practices through code reviews

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development, including shipping customer-facing web applications
• Expertise in FastAPI (or similar Python frameworks), including:
  • async/await patterns
  • dependency injection
  • Redis
  • Pydantic models
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge (query optimization, indexing strategies, performance tuning)
• Proficiency with Git, code reviews, and collaborative development practices
• Proven experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (automated testing, quality gates, rollback)

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest/experience in high-performance computing and GPU infrastructure
• Experience deploying and scaling on AWS (or other cloud platforms)
• Containerization skills: Docker (including docker-compose and Dockerfile)
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Slurm)
