Backend Engineer — Service Enablement Team

Join Shopware AG as a Backend Engineer responsible for backend services powering Shopware Services, including subscriptions, payments, and overages.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve Go-based gRPC services, including OAuth flows, integrations, and caching strategies.
• Build and operate service backends in TypeScript/Node.js, covering:
  • internal and merchant APIs
  • background workers
  • scheduled jobs
• Shape contract-first APIs using Protobuf/OpenAPI, including:
  • API versioning strategies
  • safe rollouts across multiple consumer services
• Collaborate with the platform/infra team to optimize AWS-based deployments and ensure data reliability and consistency.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with Go and/or TypeScript (Node.js).
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL) and caching (Redis) at scale.
• Familiarity with asynchronous processing and job queues (e.g., SQS).
• Strong distributed systems and API-driven architectures (gRPC/REST).
• Clear communication skills, ownership mindset, and fluent English.
• Experience with AWS, containerized deployments (Docker, ECS), and Terraform.
• Solid experience with service-to-service integrations.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Antigravity) with processes to ensure code quality.
