About the role

Backend Engineer

Build and scale high-performance backend systems, distributed architectures, and APIs that power core user-facing products.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable APIs and distributed microservices.
  • Optimize application performance and database queries across PostgreSQL, Redis, and other NoSQL data stores.
  • Implement asynchronous task queues and event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS.
  • Set up observability/monitoring pipelines with Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.
  • Collaborate on infrastructure-as-code deployments using Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes in AWS or GCP.
  • Participate in design reviews; write unit and integration tests; maintain code quality through code reviews.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of backend software engineering experience focused on distributed systems.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: Go, Python, Java, or Rust.
  • Deep understanding of relational database design, query optimization, and caching at scale.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining containerized microservices in the cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Solid grasp of software design patterns, system architecture, API security best practices, and CI/CD.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with GraphQL federated graphs and/or gRPC.
  • Experience managing infrastructure with Kubernetes.
