About the role
Role Overview
Design, build, and scale core backend platform services and APIs for high-traffic, user-facing applications. You’ll work on resilient microservices, database performance, and high availability in distributed systems, collaborating closely with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust, scalable APIs and microservices (Python, Go, or Node.js)
- Optimize data storage and retrieval using relational databases and NoSQL stores
- PostgreSQL and (Redis, DynamoDB)
- Implement asynchronous task queues and event-driven architectures
- Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain services in cloud environments (AWS or GCP)
- Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform
- Write unit, integration, and performance tests; participate in rigorous code reviews
- Define SLOs and implement observability
- Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana
Requirements
- 3–8 years of professional backend software engineering experience in production environments
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Go, Python, Java, or Node.js)
- Deep understanding of database design, query optimization, and data modeling in SQL and NoSQL
- Experience building, deploying, and maintaining containerized services in AWS/GCP/Azure
- Solid software design patterns, system architecture, and API standards (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC)
Nice to Have
- Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
- Distributed system tracing
- Experience working in a fully remote, asynchronous team environment
