About the role

Role Overview

Backend Engineer joining Rain’s new AI team to build and scale internal systems and customer-facing infrastructure. You’ll help integrate AI agents, fintech innovations, and stablecoins to deliver production-grade “agentic payment systems.”

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the technical and product roadmap execution
  • Build and scale backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines supporting Rain’s infrastructure
  • Design and deploy AI-powered features, agents, and automation tools in core platforms
  • Create shared AI infrastructure (e.g., composable tool interfaces, evaluation frameworks, permission-aware data access)
  • Ship capabilities rapidly to improve customer experience and internal operations
  • Partner with business teams to understand workflows and ensure solutions meet operational needs

Requirements

  • Experience with Node.js and backend technologies
  • 1–3+ years building production systems using LLMs, including tool calling, structured outputs, prompt architecture, and retrieval patterns
  • Strong builder mindset and willingness to experiment (including side projects)
  • Ability to work in ambiguous environments, make decisions, and ship independently
  • 3–8+ years professional experience in relevant fields (compensation based on experience)
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
