About the role

Role: Backend Engineer

Join kwiff’s team to build and evolve backend systems for its sportsbook/iGaming platform.

Responsibilities

Develop engineering solutions and share them via design sessions and code reviews
Shape a scalable and performant architecture for the sportsbook platform
Discuss feasibility, ROI, and trade-offs with Product while delivering MVP to full features
Own code end-to-end: build, test, ship, and monitor
Maintain a quality-first development approach (well-written code, testing, and end-to-end ownership)
Participate in onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing personal development

Requirements (Essential)

Strong working knowledge of:
- Node.js
- TypeScript
- Microservices architectures
- Serverless
- Relational databases
- Fault-tolerant system design
Integration and testing experience
Relational database design experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL
Redis and caching
AWS Cloud
Version control with GitHub
Fundamentals: data structures, functional code, and system architecture
Ability to communicate clearly (writing and speaking)
Self-motivated and proactive; strong problem solving with root-cause thinking and trade-off analysis
Ability to create clear technical diagrams and documentation

Nice to Have

Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog
Track record improving performance and scale of high-throughput systems (1000s req/s)
Passion for sports
Experience in the gambling/iGaming industry
