About the role
Role Overview
Backend Engineer owning the design, implementation, and scaling of core backend services for high-traffic, user-facing products and distributed microservices.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services and RESTful APIs (Node.js, Python, or Go)
- Architect and optimize relational and NoSQL database schemas to ensure low latency and data integrity
- Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Implement automated testing, CI/CD, and logging/monitoring using Datadog or Prometheus
- Collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product teams to define technical requirements and deliver features iteratively
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and incident post-mortems
Requirements
- 3–6 years professional software engineering experience focused on backend systems and distributed architectures
- Proficiency in at least one backend language: Python, Go, or Node.js; strong understanding of asynchronous programming
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining production microservices deployed on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Strong understanding of database internals, caching strategies, query optimization, and distributed systems trade-offs
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience)
Nice to Have (Bonus)
- GraphQL
- Event-driven architectures with Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Contributions to open-source software
