About the role

Role Overview

Backend Engineer owning the design, implementation, and scaling of core backend services for high-traffic, user-facing products and distributed microservices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services and RESTful APIs (Node.js, Python, or Go)
  • Architect and optimize relational and NoSQL database schemas to ensure low latency and data integrity
  • Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
  • Implement automated testing, CI/CD, and logging/monitoring using Datadog or Prometheus
  • Collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product teams to define technical requirements and deliver features iteratively
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and incident post-mortems

Requirements

  • 3–6 years professional software engineering experience focused on backend systems and distributed architectures
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language: Python, Go, or Node.js; strong understanding of asynchronous programming
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining production microservices deployed on AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Strong understanding of database internals, caching strategies, query optimization, and distributed systems trade-offs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience)

Nice to Have (Bonus)

  • GraphQL
  • Event-driven architectures with Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Contributions to open-source software
