About the role

Role overview

We are seeking a Backend Engineer (Senior Software Engineer) to develop and enhance our core platform. You will work with cross-functional teams to turn complex business requirements into scalable backend solutions, and to help shape the future of our technology infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Lead delivery of high-quality, well-tested backend solutions following best practices
Set technical direction and oversee the full SDLC (planning → deployment → maintenance)
Translate product requirements into detailed technical plans with stakeholders and leadership
Design and optimize backend systems, REST APIs, and data integrations for scalable, reliable services
Mentor engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance
Own project deliverables and ensure timely completion aligned with business goals
Identify technical challenges in complex systems and develop mitigation strategies
Support onboarding of new hires and foster continuous learning
Contribute to the evolution of AI-driven conversational systems to meet user needs and technical standards

Requirements

5+ years of professional software development in production environments
2+ years in a senior engineering role with demonstrated leadership
Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript; strong backend systems understanding
Experience designing RESTful APIs and implementing complex business logic with data stores
Strong written and verbal communication for articulating technical concepts
Product development experience; ability to make key technical decisions
Deep understanding of system architecture, design principles, and operational excellence
Cloud experience, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Cross-functional collaboration experience and ability to build consensus

Nice-to-haves

Experience contributing to conversational AI systems (implied by AI-driven conversational systems responsibility)
