Backend Engineer | $85/hr Remote

Role Overview

Backend Engineer working on a remote, sprint-based project. You’ll complete and review backend engineering tasks delivered/assisted by coding agents and evaluate model-generated code for correctness and engineering quality.

Responsibilities

• Complete and evaluate complex backend engineering tasks using coding agents
• Review model-generated code for:
  • Correctness
  • Quality
  • Maintainability
  • Performance
• Identify bugs, edge cases, and failure modes in generated outputs
• Compare outputs from multiple models and assess strengths/weaknesses
• Apply engineering judgment to real-world backend engineering scenarios

Requirements

• Strong experience in backend engineering
• Strong experience building APIs and backend systems such as distributed systems, microservices, backend platforms, and/or databases
• Strong experience using coding agents and developer productivity tools
• Strong ability to evaluate model-generated code and identify bugs, edge cases, and architectural tradeoffs
• Strong experience working on large-scale production systems

Contract / Commitment

• Full-time; remote
• Sprint-based project running in 12–24 hour stretches depending on project requirements
