Backend Engineer ($110K–$160K + Equity) at fast-growing consumer AI startup

Role Overview

Backend Engineer building and scaling backend systems for an AI-driven consumer hardware device. You’ll own real-time transcription pipelines, intelligent APIs, and cloud infrastructure, with high ownership in a rapidly scaling product.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize RESTful APIs and PostgreSQL schemas for high-scale real-time processing.
• Manage and scale AWS infrastructure for transcription and sync pipelines, including ECS, RDS, and Lambda.
• Implement real-time capabilities using WebSockets.
• Maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Docker and GitHub Actions.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience with database optimization.
• Hands-on expertise in AWS services and building secure, cloud-native architectures.
• High-ownership mindset; ship clean, observable code in a fast-paced startup.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working on real-time transcription or sync pipelines.
• Familiarity with building scalable systems for consumer products with large user bases.
