Backend Engineer (AI Hardware Startup)

Build and scale the backend systems powering a consumer AI-driven hardware device.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize RESTful APIs and PostgreSQL schemas for high-scale real-time data processing.
• Manage and scale AWS infrastructure for transcription and sync pipelines, including:
  • ECS, RDS, Lambda
• Implement real-time capabilities using WebSockets.
• Maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Docker and GitHub Actions.
• Ship clean, observable, production-ready code in a fast-paced startup environment.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong database optimization skills.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and building secure, cloud-native architectures.
• High-ownership mindset; can deliver reliably in a high-trust startup environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience building real-time transcription/data pipelines for consumer products.
• Familiarity with operational best practices (observability, reliability) in scaling systems.
