Backend Engineer ($110K–$160K + Equity) at fast-growing consumer AI startup

Role Overview

Backend Engineer building and scaling the systems behind a consumer AI-driven hardware device. You’ll own development of real-time transcription pipelines, intelligent APIs, and robust cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize RESTful APIs and PostgreSQL schemas for high-scale real-time processing
• Build, manage, and scale AWS infrastructure for transcription and sync pipelines using:
  • ECS, RDS, Lambda
• Implement real-time features with WebSockets
• Maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Docker and GitHub Actions

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Strong database optimization experience
• Hands-on expertise with AWS and building scalable, secure cloud-native architectures
• High-ownership mindset; ship clean, observable code in a fast-paced startup environment

Nice to Have

• Experience building observable systems and production-grade real-time data processing pipelines
