Backend Engineer ($110K–$160K + Equity) at fast-growing consumer AI startup

Role Overview

Backend Engineer for an AI-driven consumer hardware product. You’ll build and scale backend systems powering real-time transcription pipelines, intelligent APIs, and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize RESTful APIs and PostgreSQL schemas for high-scale real-time processing
• Manage and scale AWS infrastructure for transcription and sync pipelines (e.g., ECS, RDS, Lambda)
• Implement real-time capabilities using WebSockets
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Docker and GitHub Actions
• Deliver clean, observable, production-ready backend code in a fast-paced startup environment

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Database optimization experience (strong fit with PostgreSQL)
• Hands-on experience with AWS and building secure, scalable cloud-native architectures
• High-ownership mindset and ability to ship in a startup environment

Nice to Have

• Experience scaling real-time data processing pipelines
• Prior work with observability-focused development practices
