Backend Engineer ($110K–$160K + Equity) at fast-growing consumer AI startup

Role Overview

Backend Engineer for a fast-growing consumer AI startup building the backend systems for an AI-driven hardware device.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize RESTful APIs and PostgreSQL schemas for high-scale, real-time data processing.
• Own and scale AWS infrastructure for transcription and sync pipelines, including ECS, RDS, and Lambda.
• Implement real-time capabilities using WebSockets.
• Maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Docker and GitHub Actions.

Requirements

• At least 2+ years of professional backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Database optimization experience (PostgreSQL).
• Hands-on expertise with AWS services and building scalable, secure, cloud-native architectures.
• High-ownership mindset and ability to ship clean, observable code in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience building real-time transcription pipelines and/or AI-adjacent consumer products.
