Backend Engineer ($110K–$160K + Equity) at fast-growing consumer AI startup

Role Overview

Backend Engineer at a fast-growing consumer AI startup building systems for an AI-driven hardware device. You will own real-time transcription pipelines, intelligent APIs, and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize RESTful APIs and PostgreSQL schemas for high-scale real-time processing
• Manage and scale AWS infrastructure for transcription/sync pipelines using ECS, RDS, and Lambda
• Implement real-time features via WebSockets
• Maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Docker and GitHub Actions
• Deliver high-ownership, clean and observable backend code in a fast-paced startup environment

Requirements

• 2+ years professional backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Database optimization experience (PostgreSQL)
• Hands-on expertise with AWS and building scalable, secure cloud-native architectures
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to ship observable, production-ready code

Nice to Haves

• Experience with real-time data processing/transcription pipelines
• Experience designing systems supporting rapidly scaling consumer products
