Backend Engineer ($110K–$160K + Equity) at fast-growing consumer AI startup

Role overview

Backend Engineer for a fast-growing consumer AI startup building an AI-driven hardware device. You’ll develop and scale backend systems for real-time transcription and supporting cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize RESTful APIs and PostgreSQL schemas for high-scale real-time data processing.
• Manage and scale AWS infrastructure for transcription and sync pipelines, including ECS, RDS, and Lambda.
• Implement real-time capabilities using WebSockets.
• Maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Docker and GitHub Actions.
• Write clean, observable, production-ready code in a high-ownership startup environment.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong database optimization skills.
• Hands-on expertise with AWS and secure, scalable cloud-native architectures.

Nice to have

• Experience building and scaling real-time transcription pipelines and consumer-facing AI products.
