Backend Developer / Data Engineer (Remote)

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Backend Developer / Data Engineer on behalf of a client to build scalable data platforms, event-driven systems, and enterprise backend applications.

Responsibilities

Design and implement event-driven architectures and distributed systems
Develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines for large-scale processing
Build and enhance ETL/ELT workflows for data integration and transformation
Develop enterprise-grade backend applications using Java, JavaScript, or similar technologies
Implement reliable data storage, retrieval, and processing solutions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and engineering standards
Use cloud-based data processing technologies for analytics and operational workloads
Maintain source control and CI/CD pipelines
Troubleshoot, monitor, and improve system performance and reliability
Create and maintain technical documentation and architectural designs

Required Qualifications

3+ years designing and implementing event-driven architectures
3+ years building enterprise-level applications with Java/JavaScript (or similar)
Hands-on experience building and managing data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
Experience with AWS Glue and/or Apache Spark (or comparable tools)
Proficiency with Git and CI/CD
Strong understanding of backend development, distributed systems, and data engineering
Excellent analytical/problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP
Experience with data warehousing (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Snowflake)
Knowledge of data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning
Experience with serverless, microservices, and cloud-native applications
Familiarity with query engines like Amazon Athena or Presto
Full-stack experience using modern web technologies
Experience developing browser extensions across multiple platforms
