Role overview
Senior Backend Developer (Node.js) responsible for building and modernizing backend services. You will design scalable APIs and microservices, ensure security and scalability, and help drive technical architecture across projects.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs and microservices using Node.js with Nest.js (and/or Express)
- Architect scalable, maintainable Node.js codebases using best practices and design patterns
- Manage and optimize SQL and NoSQL databases for efficient data handling
- Write clean, well-documented code and maintain API documentation (e.g., OpenAPI/Swagger)
- Build and maintain thorough unit, integration, and automation tests (e.g., Jest, Cypress) including mocking and async test coverage
- Deploy, optimize, and automate Node.js applications on AWS, focusing on performance and cost efficiency
- Lead technical direction: solve complex problems and make key architectural decisions
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to team technical growth
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business requirements
Requirements
- 2+ years of Node.js experience with expert proficiency in Node.js 18.x+
- Strong API and microservices background
- Proficiency in JavaScript standards, TypeScript, and code quality tooling (ESLint, Prettier)
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, specifically MySQL and DynamoDB
- Experience with unit/integration testing using Jest (also mentions Mocha/Chai)
- 1+ year hands-on experience with AWS services: EC2, S3, RDS, ECS, DynamoDB, Lambda
- Strong communication skills for requirements gathering and cross-functional collaboration
