Role: Backend Developer

Join Forty Nine to work with distributed engineering teams in Europe on large-scale applications. After being matched with a startup, you become a core member of that team.

Responsibilities

Analyze, design, and develop backend features with high quality
Maintain and enhance existing applications and integrated systems
Plan and build upcoming features
Collaborate using shared best practices
Review teammates’ code and provide constructive, caring feedback
Write and run optimal tests across application units and systems

Requirements

Relevant experience: first successful professional or personal backend experience; able to share one or more applications
Performance mindset: comfortable with functional testing architecture and breaking down difficult tasks
Craftsmanship: clean code and adherence to best practices, including testing, CI/CD, peer programming, and code reviews
Ownership: pride in delivering work correctly even without supervision
Passion for learning: keep up with tech trends and enjoy experimenting
User-centric thinking: UX knowledge and focus on great user experience
Team spirit & communication: value knowledge sharing and effective resolution of issues; good written and spoken English
