About the role

Backend Developer (Full Remote)

Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver backend subsystems and product features aligned with strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

Own defined backend subsystems or feature areas across the full development lifecycle (concept/build → testing → deployment)
Ensure solutions follow established engineering standards, best practices, and quality guidelines
Participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities
Build and support backend services in Kotlin
Design APIs and data flows
Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing

Requirements

API-first development experience with REST and/or GraphQL
Experience working to complex specifications
Strong backend development background with Kotlin (or Java with demonstrated depth and willingness to work primarily in Kotlin)
Experience with backend frameworks such as Spring Boot and/or Ktor
Self-directed learner able to ramp up quickly with minimal formal training
Comfort working in regulated, compliance-heavy, potentially consequential domains

Nice to have

Exposure to DICOM and HL7
Experience leveraging AWS, CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes

Experience

Minimum 5+ years of relevant professional experience (open to strong candidates with less, who demonstrate growth potential)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in an IT field
