Backend Developer

Join Simera’s backend team to design, build, and maintain server-side logic for a suite of digital products.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain back-end services, APIs, and database schemas
• Build scalable, high-performance systems for large volumes of requests and data
• Implement security and data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information
• Optimize performance via code refinement, database tuning, and system monitoring/troubleshooting
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and stakeholders for smooth integration
• Manage database schemas, queries, and migrations while ensuring data integrity
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code; participate in code reviews
• Contribute to system architecture decisions and maintain technical documentation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (CS/Software Engineering or related) or equivalent practical experience
• Proven experience as a Backend Developer / Software Engineer
• Proficiency in at least one backend stack, e.g.:
  • Node.js/Express
  • Python (Django, Flask, FastAPI)
  • Java (Spring Boot)
  • Ruby on Rails
• Strong database knowledge: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis (schemas, queries, migrations)
• Experience building and/or consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure**) plus Docker and Kubernetes
• Solid system design, scalability, and security best practices
• Git and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with observability/monitoring practices and ongoing performance troubleshooting
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to system architecture and technical documentation
