Backend Developer | $90/hr Remote

Role Overview

Contract Software Engineer / Backend Developer (remote) supporting backend and frontend system development. You’ll design, implement, and optimize scalable services, with a focus on API development, databases, and robust delivery practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend and frontend systems using Java, JavaScript, and Python
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs for secure, efficient data exchange across distributed systems
• Model, query, and maintain SQL databases to support high-performance, scalable applications
• Promote clean code practices, unit testing, and code reviews
• Use CI/CD workflows to enable continuous delivery
• Collaborate in Agile teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex software/system issues
• Contribute to system architecture discussions (scalability, maintainability, cloud deployment)

Requirements

• Strong software engineering experience with Java, JavaScript, and Python
• Algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented programming expertise
• Proficiency with SQL databases, API integrations, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience with Git and version control workflows
• Agile methodologies experience
• Strong background in CI/CD, unit testing, debugging, and writing clean, maintainable code
• Proven ability to design/build scalable, high-performance software systems
