Back End Engineer

Role Overview

Backend Engineer on Horizon3.ai’s Application Platform Team (APT), building the cross-cutting backend services and APIs that power NodeZero’s production-scale pentesting and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance backend services powering NodeZero, including:
  • ETL jobs and data pipelines for large graph and relational datasets
  • GraphQL APIs for customer-facing features and internal tools (authentication, management portal, reporting flows, etc.)
  • Improve the NodeZero entrypoint for smoother operation across operating systems and better observability during installation
• Implement and evolve backend APIs in GraphQL and Python to support:
  • Internal tools for managing customer accounts/operations at scale
  • Product features requiring reliable, performant data access
  • Foundational integrations platform capabilities for scaling partner integrations
• Collaborate across teams (product, frontend, other engineering squads) to ship improvements
• Support production reliability via collaboration with on-call/support engineers to debug issues
• Improve platform performance and stability, including:
  • ETL and post-ETL performance in large customer environments
  • Observability/monitoring for runner queues, ETL jobs, and core APIs
  • Attack vector and asset graph processing
  • Platform features such as runner queues, customer entitlements, and client migrations
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to raise quality across the team
