Back End Engineer - Core Payment

Role: Back-End Engineer — Core Payments (Mid to Senior)

You’ll join the Core Payments team to design and operate the backbone of the company’s payment infrastructure, including ledger systems and real-time transaction processing.

What you’ll own

• Design and develop scalable back-end services in Go (Golang)
• Build and optimize data models and queries in PostgreSQL
• Architect and maintain ledger accounting logic, including:
  • double-entry accounting
  • reconciliation
  • balance tracking
• Lead technical decisions and mentor where needed
• Develop dynamic transaction routing logic for multi-gateway payment flows
• Collaborate with front-end and product teams to deliver end-to-end payment features
• Integrate and maintain payment APIs (PSPs, acquirers, wallets)
• Drive code quality via reviews, standards, and best practices

Requirements

• 3–7+ years of back-end development experience
• Strong hands-on Go experience (production-grade, idiomatic)
• Strong PostgreSQL skills (schema design, complex queries, indexing, transactions)
• Proven experience with REST API design and microservices architecture
• Comfortable working in a fully remote, async environment
• Ability to work professionally in high-risk/regulated industries (gaming, online casino, cryptocurrency, forex)

Nice to have

• Experience with ledger systems or financial accounting logic
• Familiarity with payment gateways/PSP integrations
• Experience designing transaction routing, failover, or multi-currency flows
• Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) or event-driven architecture
• Background in high-risk merchant processing / compliance-aware payment flows
• APAC fintech or banking domain knowledge

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Location / Work style

• Full remote for the APAC region (work from anywhere in the region)

Compensation

• SGD 30,000 – 40,000 per year (annual), net after tax
• No relocation support
