Back End Developer – Mid-level

Role Overview

Back End Developer (Mid-level) at Maximus. This is a remote role that is contingent upon contract award and position availability and requires an active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support back-end software development with subject-matter proficiency.
• Apply analytical skills to process improvement, studies, and requirements definition.
• Analyze, plan, and develop requirements documents and functional models.
• Design and develop back-end architectures supporting system capabilities and integrations.
• Develop and modify RESTful APIs for application functionality.
• Perform database management, data modeling, and optimization.
• Support testing and validation to verify system operability and compliance.
• Participate in Agile PI (Program Increment) planning and related activities, including periodic travel.

Requirements (Minimum)

• Active Secret clearance (or above). Active TS/SCI is highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (a Master’s degree can substitute for 2 years of experience).
• 7+ years software development experience in object-oriented and scripted languages, with relevant tool suites for DevSecOps, microservices, and containers.
• 3 years with Jira (bug tracking).
• 3 years testing web-based applications.
• 3 years participating in software development programs/projects.
• 3 years back-end web design and development.
• 3 years with: AWS Infrastructure, Kubernetes, and RedHat Linux.
• 5 years with Jenkins and GitLab.
• 5 years with at least five of: Postgres RDS, Exodus, Python, Luna, Java, Docker, OpenJDK, Ansible, Packer, Maven, Kubernetes, Red Hat.
• Demonstrated experience with relational databases, RESTful API development, system integrations.
• Demonstrated experience preparing, conducting, and documenting systems tests and results for compliance.
• Practical experience developing in a cloud environment.
• Experience integrating data from unclassified to classified application deployments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Agile Test-Driven development.
• Experience integrating into DoD DevSecOps environments.
• 5+ years CI/CD software development.
• Experience with UX tool suites (e.g., Sketch, InVision).
• Experience structuring data for integration into machine learning or AI capabilities.
