About the role
Role Overview
Backend Developer (Banking) for a remote (India) project. This is a 6-month contract role with an immediate joiner or up to 30 days notice period.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain robust backend services using Java.
- Develop and secure backend functionality using Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Spring Security.
- Design, build, and consume RESTful APIs, including correct use of HTTP methods/status codes and API versioning.
- Implement microservices architecture, including service decomposition, inter-service communication, and handling distributed data concerns.
- Work with MS SQL Server: schema design, optimized SQL queries, and stored procedures.
- Write unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito.
- Support development workflows with Git (branching, pull requests, merges) and Docker/CI-CD pipelines.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of backend development experience.
- Java (8+) with strong OOP, multithreading, and Java best practices.
- Spring Boot plus Spring Data and Spring Security.
- Strong experience with MS SQL Server (relational DBs, SQL optimization, stored procedures).
- RESTful API development fundamentals (HTTP semantics, status codes, versioning).
- Practical experience with microservices.
- Proficiency with Git.
- Experience with automated testing using JUnit and Mockito.
- Basic familiarity with Docker and CI/CD.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience specifically in banking or similar regulated domains (implied by the title).
