About the role

Role overview

You will be a Python Backend Developer on the Performance Tools team. The team builds frameworks and tools to help engineers measure and improve performance across the company’s products. This is a remote role (distributed team across North America and Europe) focused on delivering major improvements to performance comparison tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the final statistical techniques for performance comparison tooling according to approved designs and domain expert direction.
  • Refactor and optimize result outputs to improve backend architecture integrity and long-term maintainability.
  • Contribute expert-driven enhancements to a novel statistical framework as it evolves.
  • Maintain the system by managing updates, fixing bugs, and ensuring high standards for:
    • performance
    • accessibility
    • test coverage

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, primarily backend development.
  • Proficiency in Python and Django.
  • Experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with statistical concepts and methods for performance data analysis.
  • Strong code quality practices with attention to performance, accessibility, and test coverage.
  • Self-directed ability to manage and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working remotely.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with JavaScript, React, TypeScript, and Material UI.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript charting libraries (e.g., ECharts) for presenting data clearly.
