Azure Kubernetes Service Engineer

Role Overview

Senior AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) Engineer (individual contributor) responsible for designing, building, automating, and supporting enterprise Kubernetes platforms on Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, manage, and optimize Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters
• Administer Kubernetes workloads including node pools, ingress, scaling, networking, and storage
• Build and maintain Docker containers and Kubernetes deployment configurations
• Implement and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions
• Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting with Azure Monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana
• Troubleshoot issues across Kubernetes, infrastructure, networking, and application deployments
• Apply Kubernetes/Azure security best practices (e.g., RBAC, network policies, secrets management, workload identity)
• Support high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and platform reliability initiatives
• Collaborate with development and architecture teams to improve scalability and deployment efficiency
• Create/maintain operational documentation, standards, and runbooks

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (4-year)
• 5+ years in Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering
• 3+ years hands-on with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Kubernetes administration
• Strong experience with:
  • Microsoft Azure and AKS
  • Docker
  • Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions
  • Helm, ingress controllers, and Kubernetes networking concepts
  • Production troubleshooting
  • Monitoring/logging platforms
  • Azure networking (DNS, load balancing) and cloud security best practices
  • Scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Python
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
