About the role
Role Overview
Senior AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) Engineer (individual contributor) responsible for designing, building, automating, and supporting enterprise Kubernetes platforms on Microsoft Azure.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, manage, and optimize Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters
- Administer Kubernetes workloads including node pools, ingress, scaling, networking, and storage
- Build and maintain Docker containers and Kubernetes deployment configurations
- Implement and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions
- Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting with Azure Monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana
- Troubleshoot issues across Kubernetes, infrastructure, networking, and application deployments
- Apply Kubernetes/Azure security best practices (e.g., RBAC, network policies, secrets management, workload identity)
- Support high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and platform reliability initiatives
- Collaborate with development and architecture teams to improve scalability and deployment efficiency
- Create/maintain operational documentation, standards, and runbooks
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (4-year)
- 5+ years in Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering
- 3+ years hands-on with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Kubernetes administration
- Strong experience with:
- Microsoft Azure and AKS
- Docker
- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions
- Helm, ingress controllers, and Kubernetes networking concepts
- Production troubleshooting
- Monitoring/logging platforms
- Azure networking (DNS, load balancing) and cloud security best practices
- Scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
