About the role

Role Overview

Azure DevOps Engineer II/III at Rackspace (HQ: India – Bangalore). The role requires deep expertise in DevOps/engineering disciplines, leading others to solve complex problems and working independently with guidance only on the most complex situations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead problem solving for complex, non-routine engineering issues; guide or redirect solution implementation when outcomes are not met.
Collaborate across disciplines to brainstorm and deliver solutions for uncommon problems.
Provide functional leadership to teams/projects; coach others to raise standards of excellence.
Analyze data and patterns to assess root causes of complex issues.
Integrate new technologies into business solutions; communicate a future-state vision for technology requirements.
Prioritize work to meet deadlines; manage multifaceted projects with minimal errors.
Identify short- and long-term barriers to delivery and take corrective action.
Support customer outcomes by resolving technical issues in a timely manner and following up for satisfaction.

Required Knowledge / Skill Baseline

Coding / Version Control / CI/CD

Scripting/programming languages and configuration management concepts
Container fundamentals
Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
Version Control System (Git) including:
- commit/branch/merge/review workflow
- understanding pre/post hooks
- designing branching strategies (e.g., Git Flow, GitHub Flow)
- group collaboration processes (access control, code reviews/approvals, integration with CI tools)
Artifact repository concepts (familiar with at least one popular artifact management tool)
CI/CD tools and building CI services (VCS + artifact repo + build/release)
Design and implement CI/CD pipelines

Operating Systems

Familiarity with Linux or Windows

Cloud / Automation / IaC

Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Use cloud IaC languages to implement cloud resources and operational processes
Orchestration tools for IaC code and configuration injection

Nice-to-Haves / Additional Signals

Experience implementing orchestration around IaC and CI/CD workflows
Ability to influence and coach across a business unit/function
