About the role
Role Overview
Mission Cloud is hiring a Cloud Solutions Architect (AWS) to act as the primary point of contact for aligned customer accounts. You’ll lead consulting sessions, develop strategic roadmaps, and coordinate delivery with Cloud Engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Consult with multiple clients to understand business and technical needs
- Serve as a trusted advisor and align customer expectations with AWS best practices
- Create strategic roadmaps and project plans based on customer goals
- Coordinate timelines and alignment with clients and Project Managers
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in AWS (e.g., autoscaling, right-sizing, eliminating waste)
- Assess security gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen security posture
- Document, present, and communicate recommendations to customers (including senior leadership)
- Translate requirements into LOE estimates and design documents; maintain project tracking
- Provide guidance to Cloud Engineers during implementation
- Quality check engineering work to ensure customer satisfaction
- Train customers on management and maintenance of new/upgraded environments
- Support presales activities (proposal design/positioning)
- Track customer activity in Jira with weekly timecard submissions in Mavenlink
- Mentor Cloud Engineers
Requirements
- Customer-facing consulting experience
- Experience developing project roadmaps, LOE estimates, and design documents
- Ability to lead client projects, assign work, and quality check engineering
- Ability to explain technical requirements to non-technical audiences
- Strong presentation skills; overcome objections and build consensus
- Ability to deploy AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Ability to build CI pipelines and automation (build/test/performance)
- Ability to design and build containerization solutions using Docker and/or Kubernetes (e.g., ECS/ECS Fargate; manifests/Helm; KOPS; EKS/EKS/Fargate)
- Understanding of AWS security controls and network boundary controls
- Familiarity with the AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Experience with one or more scripting languages
- Ability to provide occasional off-hours support as needed
- AWS Professional-level Certification required within 6 months of employment
Nice-to-Haves
- Container + CI/CD experience across both infrastructure and pipelines
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and support presales
