AWS Data Engineer

Role Overview

AWS Data Engineer (100% remote, Roanoke, VA)

This is a contract engagement (2–3 months, with possible longer extension). The team works within a health analytics environment supporting KPI and business metrics.

Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to gather and understand requirements and communicate them to data engineering team members.
• Create and maintain dashboards that provide visual insights into KPIs and business metrics (Tableau-related work referenced).
• Use SQL to analyze data, identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, and support data validation.
• Participate in data pipeline cleaning/maintenance efforts as part of an interview business challenge.

Requirements

• 6+ years of data engineering experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Python.
• Experience with AWS services including:
  • S3
  • Lambda
  • CI/CD/repository tooling (e.g., CodeCommit, pipelines)
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub Actions.
• Experience working with APIs.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to use SQL for data analysis and validation.

Nice to Have

• Tableau
• Snowflake

Interview Process

• 1-step technical interview with a business challenge focused on cleaning up data pipelines.

Contract / Extension / Hiring

• 2–3 months with potential extension.
• May transition to full-time after the contract period (opportunity indicated).
