AWS Cloud Architect - W-2, Contract-to-hire

Role Overview

TekStream Solutions is seeking an AWS Cloud Architect for a remote, US-based W-2 contract-to-hire engagement (six months). You will establish and maintain a client AWS cloud environment to support secure, scalable, resilient SaaS architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead cloud architectural direction and translate complex requirements into actionable designs.
• Guide design, development, and deployment of cloud-native, elastic, resilient SaaS products following AWS best practices.
• Define and maintain cloud architecture standards, reference architectures, and reusable design patterns (primarily using AWS resources).
• Create and maintain architectural blueprints for infrastructure, applications, and data flows.
• Establish and enforce cloud governance: guardrails, usage policies, and design principles.
• Ensure compliance with SOC 2, HIPAA, and other regulatory/security frameworks.
• Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation for provisioning/configuration/operations.
• Promote optimized CI/CD and DevOps practices to improve deployment automation and delivery efficiency.
• Enforce AWS security best practices: IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and secure SaaS design.
• Develop and optimize observability strategies and improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Mentor architects and engineers; lead governance reviews and technical design alignment.
• Partner with product, engineering, cloud operations, architecture, and security teams to align decisions with enterprise goals.

Requirements

• 10+ years in cloud architecture, cloud engineering, or solution architecture.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native commercial SaaS products.
• 5+ years designing complex distributed systems and enterprise cloud solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Technology (or related), partially indicated in the posting.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of cloud governance frameworks such as CIS Benchmarks and NIST.
• Experience integrating AI/ML on AWS (including Bedrock).
• Ability to conduct cost–benefit / ROI analysis.
• Experience applying the AWS Well-Architected Framework to SaaS design reviews.
• Familiarity with FinOps and forecasting compute/design-based cloud costs.
