AWS Application Architect - Lead

Role Overview

Lead and mentor full-stack development teams as an AWS Application Architect (Lead) on Guidehouse modernization initiatives. You will provide architectural oversight, lead technical decision-making, and deliver hands-on engineering for scalable, secure distributed systems in AWS.

Responsibilities

• Partner with clients, leaders, solutions architects, and technical leads to deliver solutions for growth efforts and capability build-outs.
• Lead and mentor full-stack development teams; provide technical guidance and architecture oversight for prototypes.
• Own solution architecture and hands-on development of distributed systems using:
  • AWS-native approaches
  • Microservices architecture
  • Containerization
  • API-First design patterns
• Collaborate across UX, platform engineering, product owners, business analysts, and full-stack teams to design, build, test, and deploy resilient software products.
• Define and drive application architecture standards, design patterns, and development best practices.
• Establish architectural roadmaps for modernization projects and ensure alignment with AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• Lead technical decision processes, oversee implementation for complex systems, and provide escalation support.
• Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and technical deliverables across multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Guide proof-of-concept development and technical demos; support RFPs, technical proposals, and thought leadership.

Requirements

• US Citizen or Green Card holder.
• Bachelor’s degree or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• 6–10 years of relevant experience in full-stack application development, including 4+ years in leadership/architectural roles.
• 5+ years of AWS cloud application development to build/modernize applications.
• Proven team leadership managing 5+ developers.
• Expert proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
• Full-stack cloud-native development experience using combinations such as:
  • Python (backend) and JavaScript
  • Django (alternatives: Flask, FastAPI, Falcon, SQLAlchemy)
  • Vue.js (alternatives: React, Svelte, Angular v1.6+)
• Strong ability to architect products/prototypes, set standards, and explain tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with microservices, API design patterns, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), serverless, and modern CI/CD for enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with AWS SAM and design patterns such as MVC, Circuit Breaker, and Event-Driven.
• Must be able to obtain Public Trust and be willing to travel up to 10%.
