Automation Test Engineer

Role overview

Automation Test Engineer for enterprise applications supporting federal programs serving veterans. The role focuses on delivering reliable, secure, and efficient systems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with continuous testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and continuously improve functional and automated testing strategies for enterprise applications
• Create detailed functional test scenarios, test cases, and test data aligned to system requirements
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automation frameworks using Selenium (including strategy definition and optimization)
• Run automated and manual tests, identify defects, and document results clearly
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and DevOps workflows to support continuous testing/delivery
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and federal stakeholders to clarify requirements and validate behavior
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and provide feedback to improve system quality
• Review and improve test plans, procedures, and automation approaches to increase efficiency and coverage

Requirements

• 10+ years in IT, with strong exposure to QA/testing functions
• 2+ years hands-on test automation experience using Selenium, including framework development/optimization
• Strong knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies
• Experience testing Java, .NET, web, SOA, and ETL-based applications
• Strong understanding of test planning, automation feasibility analysis, and SDLC models (Agile, Waterfall, Iterative)
• Proficiency in SQL and databases such as Oracle or MS Access
• Familiarity with Unix and Windows environments
• Ability to translate requirements and documentation into effective test strategies
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)
