Automation Software Test Engineer - REMOTE

Role Overview

Automation Software Test Engineer (Remote) for a Federal Program. You will design, develop, and operate cloud-based test automation for enterprise applications used across web and mobile.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop system test automation scripts using:
  • Selenium WebDriver (including Selenium JavaScript APIs)
  • Jest, Cucumber, and Gherkin
  • API testing using tools such as RestAssured or Karate
• Plan and estimate automation solutions.
• Analyze existing architectures and testing platforms to guide test strategy growth/expansion.
• Create detailed test designs using core software test engineering principles, including integration across distributed systems.
• Collaborate with BAs and developers to support ATDD (Acceptance Test Driven Development) and acceptance criteria review.
• Implement automated test deliverables:
  • Integration/regression scenarios
  • Test cases
  • Test data management strategy
  • Reporting
• Improve and evolve automation frameworks (faster, more flexible, easier to use).
• Use parallel execution / grid systems to speed up tests.
• Gather non-functional performance requirements and build performance test frameworks (for dev and QA reuse).
• Develop and run performance tests using JMeter, Gatling, or other open-source tools.
• Measure performance indicators (throughput, response times, CPU/memory/thread/IO) and debug performance issues with Application Development and DevOps teams.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain Federal Government Public Trust.
• 10+ years full-lifecycle application development experience.
• 3+ years experience with the listed automation/testing technologies and AWS cloud platform.
• Minimum 4+ years in one or more of:
  • Selenium Grid / WebDriver
  • Selenium JavaScript APIs
  • Cucumber / Gherkin
  • jUnit / TestNG
  • API testing (RestAssured / Karate)
  • JavaScript development (React.js, Node.js, ES6+)
• Experience with databases and data formats for testing.
• Experience with Agile and Scrum.
• Experience testing UI/UX best practices and 508 compliance.
• Experience with tooling such as Jira Platform and/or Serena Business Manager.

Compensation

• $120,000–$130,000 (flexible based on experience)
