About the role

Role Overview

Associate Sales Engineer (Early-career) on the EMEA team at InfluxData. This is a remote UK role with no regular customer site visits. You’ll work with customers remotely and alongside senior Sales Engineers to build demos, proof-of-concept environments, and integrations—while learning the craft of sales engineering from an experienced team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Develop deep, hands-on expertise in InfluxDB and the broader InfluxData platform, including:
- APIs, client libraries, and integrations (e.g., Telegraf, Grafana, MQTT, and industrial protocols)
Partner with senior Sales Engineers on active opportunities:
- Build demos, proof-of-concept environments, sample integrations, and scripts on behalf of prospects/customers
Provide responsive technical coverage for the sales team:
- Answer product questions, run standard demos, and unblock opportunities
Contribute to RFx responses and help with prospect Q&A/workshops
Serve as a front-line advocate for prospects/customers by relaying feedback to Engineering, Product, and Support
Write content for blogs, community forums, and sample-code repositories
Learn enterprise sales mechanics including discovery, qualification, and MEDDIC
Occasional travel for team meetings, conferences, and meetups

Requirements

Degree in CS/Engineering/Math/Physics (or related) or equivalent demonstrable technical ability
Comfortable writing code in at least one of:
- Python, Go, JavaScript/Node.js, Java
- Enough to build working examples, integrations, and small tools
Evidence you’ve built things (side projects, hackathons, open-source, or coursework)
Familiarity with Linux fundamentals and the command line
Some exposure to data work: SQL, NoSQL, CSVs, scripts, or data coursework
Strong communication skills (explain technical concepts clearly in writing and in person)
Curiosity about how businesses and physical operations work
Comfort with ambiguity and a problem-solving mindset
Fluent written and spoken English

Bonus Points

Tinkered with hardware/sensors/microcontrollers (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Arduino, robotics, vehicles)
Exposure to IoT/industrial technologies: MQTT, OPC-UA, SCADA, PLC, telemetry
Experience with monitoring/observability tools: Grafana, Prometheus, InfluxDB
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Built with LLMs or AI developer tools
Fluency in another European language
