About the role
Role Overview
Associate QA/QC Engineer for Qcells Service Solutions (QSS), responsible for day-to-day quality assurance and quality control for a defined portfolio of residential solar assets.
The role is remote, with an expectation to relocate at your own expense to Houston, TX or Irvine, CA locations.
Responsibilities
- Review electrical and mechanical system designs and installations for compliance with:
- NEC, local jurisdiction requirements
- OEM requirements
- company QA/QC standards
- Conduct routine and targeted quality audits to verify compliance with:
- design specifications
- code compliance
- company standards
- Manage project queue reviews to meet SLAs
- Identify quality issues, collaborate cross-functionally to resolve them, and drive consistency across installations and asset performance
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Draft, review, and update technical documents (e.g., scopes of work, procedures, best practices)
- Track and communicate quality performance metrics, trends, and corrective actions to the QA/QC Manager
- Support the QA/QC Manager with goals such as SLA adherence, review process optimization, and continuous improvement
- Stay current on relevant industry standards and best practices for residential solar
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent hands-on experience
- Licensed electrician with solar experience considered
- 1–2 years experience in QA/QC, construction, or related technical roles (solar preferred; internships/field experience acceptable)
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, system designs, and performance data
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making
- Effective communication with ability to collaborate across teams and partners
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a remote environment
- Familiarity with industry standards/codes such as UL, IBC, and NEC
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook)
- Proficiency with Aurora and/or Solargraf design tools
- Ability to travel up to 10% (as needed)
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with PV (photovoltaics) projects
- Working knowledge of residential solar equipment, installation practices, and performance metrics
- Experience with financed solar assets or TPO portfolios
