About the role
Role Overview
As an Associate Platform Engineer (Remote), you will design, build, and maintain the infrastructure and services powering Kohl’s applications. You’ll develop, test, deploy, and iteratively improve platform capabilities, features, and APIs in collaboration with designers, product managers, end users, and other platform engineers.
What You’ll Do
- Build and integrate secure, high-quality platform services that are easy to use, operate, and observe.
- Support the full platform services lifecycle: code, infrastructure, data, security, CI/CD, support, and clear documentation.
- Use cloud expertise, automation tools, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to manage complex systems.
- Optimize CI/CD pipelines and improve monitoring/logging to enhance platform architecture.
- Create scalable, reliable, secure platforms, streamlining development and improving performance and availability.
- Collaborate with the SRE team to meet SLA/SLO expectations.
Requirements (Required)
- Basic understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
- Basic understanding of test-driven development.
- Basic knowledge of automation technologies used for IaC.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Customer-oriented, open-minded problem solving.
Nice-to-Haves (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in MIS, Computer Science, or related field.
- Basic knowledge of application design patterns, event-driven architecture, and testing strategies.
- Experience with major cloud platforms: GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Experience with Kubernetes-based container platforms (e.g., OpenShift, GKE, EKS).
- Exposure to IaC/automation tools such as OpenTofu, Ansible, Open Policy Agent (OPA), Packer, GitLab CI.
- Experience with Python (and related tooling).
