About the role
Role Overview
Associate General Counsel (U.S.-based) to serve as a strategic legal partner in a fast-growing technology environment. You will provide practical counsel across commercial, employment, privacy, compliance, and governance matters, partnering closely with cross-functional teams (Sales, Finance, Product, Engineering, Operations).
Responsibilities
- Commercial contracts: Negotiate, draft, review, and manage SaaS agreements and other technology/commercial documents (technology agreements, licensing, partnerships, procurement, confidentiality).
- Business partnership: Advise business leaders and Sales while balancing commercial goals with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Employment & People matters: Support HR/People teams on recruitment, compensation, employee relations, workforce initiatives, and employment documentation.
- Legal operations enablement: Build and maintain legal processes, templates, playbooks, and policies to improve efficiency and consistency.
- AI-enabled legal workflow: Use AI tools, automation, and workflow improvements to enhance legal productivity.
- Privacy & compliance: Advise on privacy/data protection, AI governance, compliance initiatives, and enterprise risk management.
- Corporate governance: Support entity management, regulatory filings, audits, and reporting.
- Cross-functional & external coordination: Work with internal stakeholders and external counsel; contribute to special projects (compliance, procurement, disputes, operational improvements).
Requirements
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant legal experience (law firm and/or in-house) supporting business operations.
- Credentials: J.D. from an accredited school and active bar membership in good standing.
- Commercial contracts: Strong background negotiating and interpreting SaaS, licensing, and technology agreements.
- Employment law: Experience advising employment matters and partnering with HR/People teams.
- Privacy, compliance, governance, risk: Solid understanding across these areas.
- Legal technology/AI: Experience leveraging AI tools, automation, or legal tech platforms to improve legal workflows.
- Judgment & communication: Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to provide practical, business-oriented advice.
- Tools: Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office, DocuSign, Teams, and related workplace technologies.
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
