About the role

Role Overview

Snappy is hiring an Associate General Counsel, Director to join a lean legal team and serve as a key business-facing legal partner. This role is broad and high-impact, owning commercial contracting and advising multiple internal stakeholders to support scalable, compliant growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own and independently negotiate commercial agreements, including:
    • Enterprise customer agreements
    • SaaS agreements
    • Marketplace/channel partnerships
    • Retail and fulfillment arrangements
    • Vendor agreements
    • Data protection agreements
    • Professional services agreements
    • Marketing agreements and other strategic transactions
  • Provide timely, practical, business-oriented legal advice to Sales, Partnerships, Product, Operations, Finance, Marketing, People, and other stakeholders.
  • Act as a primary legal partner for strategic and revenue-generating initiatives (new products, partnerships, programs, and go-to-market models).
  • Lead legal support for enterprise deals and customer diligence, including privacy, security, compliance, insurance, and product-related questions.
  • Draft, maintain, and improve standard agreements, fallback positions, negotiation playbooks, approval frameworks, and self-service resources.
  • Improve contracting and legal intake processes to reduce friction and accelerate deal cycles while improving visibility.
  • Partner with Product on data protection, AI, product counseling, and regulatory issues (including review of tools, data uses, and customer-facing functionality).
  • Support corporate/employment/general legal matters as needed, including policy development, dispute management, compliance initiatives, and coordination with outside counsel.
  • Monitor legal/regulatory developments and translate them into practical guidance for the business.
  • Help build the legal function by sharing knowledge, documenting processes, and supporting cross-functional training.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 6+ years of relevant legal experience, with substantial commercial contracting experience (law firm + in-house preferred).
  • Strong ability to independently draft and negotiate sophisticated B2B agreements.
  • Strong working knowledge of SaaS and privacy/data protection issues.
  • Strong judgment; ability to identify material risk, propose workable solutions, and escalate appropriately.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of matters and prioritize effectively in a fast-moving environment.
  • Clear, concise, adaptable written and verbal communication, including explaining legal issues to non-lawyers.
  • Collaborative, hands-on approach across strategic and day-to-day matters.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with marketplaces, payments, gift cards, rewards, loyalty programs, channel partnerships, or retail relationships.
