Role Overview

Entry-level Associate Engineer (0–1 years) at HendrenAI. You’ll write and test code with guidance from senior engineers, contribute to well-scoped features and bug fixes, and build foundational software engineering skills while working on healthcare AI products.

Responsibilities

  • Write, test, and debug clean code for well-defined tasks under senior guidance
  • Implement small features and bug fixes in an existing codebase
  • Participate in code reviews (as both reviewer and reviewee) to learn team standards
  • Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and reliability
  • Collaborate with the team in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
  • Learn product architecture, integration points (Epic, athenahealth, Liberty/RedSail), and compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITECH)
  • Document work clearly and proactively ask questions to accelerate learning

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience (e.g., bootcamp plus a portfolio)
  • 0–1 years of professional software development experience (internships and significant academic/personal projects count)
  • Foundational proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Go)
  • Core computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms) and version control (Git)
  • Strong eagerness to learn, communication skills, and collaborative mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and/or web frameworks
  • Interest in healthcare, AI/ML, or voice technology

Work Model / Location

  • Hybrid for candidates within commuting distance of the Montvale, NJ office
  • Fully remote option for candidates anywhere in New Jersey
