Associate Data Scientist

Role Overview

As an Associate Data Scientist at Why Hiring, you’ll support data-driven decision-making across products and operations. This is a full-time remote role where you will analyze and model data to generate insights about user behavior, job performance, and platform effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Explore and interpret datasets to identify meaningful patterns and insights
• Support design and evaluation of predictive and classification models
• Perform data preparation, feature engineering, and model validation
• Apply statistical techniques to answer business and operational questions
• Build analytical solutions that support strategic decision-making
• Create dashboards/reports and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Participate in experimentation, hypothesis testing, and performance measurement
• Assist with deployment and monitoring of data science solutions
• Collaborate with teams to improve data accessibility and usability
• Document methodologies and maintain data quality standards

Requirements

• Strong foundation in Data Science and applied statistics for modeling and experimentation
• Proficiency in data analytics/data analysis (cleaning, transforming, interpreting complex datasets)
• Data visualization skills to produce clear dashboards and reports
• Hands-on experience with analytical tools/languages such as Python or R and SQL
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, Statistics, CS, Mathematics, Economics) or equivalent practical experience
• Strong communication skills (writing and verbal) across diverse audiences
• Comfort working remotely with distributed teams and managing time independently

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in a tech or staffing environment
• Experience implementing statistical tests to validate hypotheses
