Associate Data Scientist

Role Overview

Join Mark43’s Global Services team as an Associate Data Scientist. You’ll work with public safety agencies and internal teams to turn operational data into actionable insights that improve decision-making and real-world outcomes in public safety.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior team members and customers to break down analytical questions and determine required data/methods.
• Write SQL queries and use Python or R to clean, explore, and analyze datasets.
• Build and/or update dashboards and visualizations, incorporating customer feedback.
• Combine multiple datasets and address data quality issues to produce reliable outputs.
• Translate findings into clear written summaries, visuals, and products for non-technical stakeholders.
• Partner with Services, Product, and Engineering teams to share customer insights and improve the platform.
• Help customers understand the Mark43 data model and how to use the tools.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of professional experience (or equivalent academic/internship experience) working with data.
• Knowledge/experience with Python or R, with interest and ability to learn SQL for analysis and data manipulation.
• Experience from coursework, internships, or projects building analyses, reports, or visualizations.
• Strong willingness to learn new tools/systems and the Mark43 data model.
• Comfort working with messy or incomplete datasets and improving data quality.
• Background in statistics, computer science, economics, data science, or a related field; strong analytical thinking.
• Ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to public safety, law enforcement, or crime analysis.

Location / Work Eligibility

• The role is hiring in Canada, the UK, and specific U.S. states (including New York). Applicants must be authorized to work where hired and Mark43 is unable to sponsor visas.
